Small Group Tours
We are pleased to announce that The Corsham School are running small group tours of the school for Year 6 students and their parents/carers this term. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, our tours will operate differently to 'normal' times. The tours will take place outside where we are able to show you around the school grounds and externally around the buildings. On your tour, you will find out about The Corsham School and be able to ask any questions that you may have about the school, support for transition and Year 7.
We are able to book tours for families (up to five in the group). Our tours last approximately 45 minutes. Times are available during the school day or after the school day finishes (after 3pm). Please contact email@example.com or 01249 713284 to book your tour.
How to apply for a secondary school place for September 2020.
As in previous years, the application process is managed by Wiltshire Council Admissions Team. An online application form needs to be completed by 31st October 2020 and parents are notified of their child's school place on National Offer Day on Monday 1st March 2021. Please find here the link to Wiltshire Council's Admissions Page that takes you through the process of applying:
If you have any questions regarding transition for your child, please contact Sue Geoghegan, Transition Co-ordinator either via email: SGeoghegan@corsham.wilts.sch.uk or 01249 713284. She will be happy to discuss your child's needs and answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to meeting with you, either virtually or in person, soon.
We work closely with our primary feeder schools and we offer an opportunity for Year 5 students at these schools to come and enjoy a taster day with us.
Students in Year 6 are then invited to spend a further day at their new school - this is usually in January of Year 6. On these days, further activities are undertaken to give students a real sense of secondary school life. 6th Form leaders and guides from Year 8 spend time with them to answer any questions and reassure them about the challenges to come!
A ‘Taster Day’ is the opportunity for Year 5 and Year 6 students to spend a day with us experiencing all the opportunities available at The Corsham School. We liaise closely with our feeder Primary Schools to organise a Taster Day for each Year 5 and Year 6 class. Year 5 Taster Days take place in July of each year and Year 6 Taster Days in January.
Taster Day visits allow the students to experience a ‘Day in the Life’ of The Corsham School. Students follow a timetable and experience a variety of lessons including Film Studies, Philosophy and Media Studies as well as more familiar subjects such as English, Maths and Science.
Students also have the opportunity to ask questions of older students and hear about transition to secondary school from those who have recently experienced it.
If you would like your child to attend a Taster Day, please contact Sue Geoghegan, Transition Co-ordinator, who will book your child’s place.
