Homework

Weekly KS3 homework is set for English, Maths, Science and Languages. For English (Reader), Maths and Science, all homework is completed on the online platform Sparx. Languages will set weekly vocab and consolidation tasks.

Please see the days when the homework tasks are set in the table below. All homework will be set on classcharts.

Other subject will also set homework throughout the year but not on a weekly basis and these homeworks can be research based or consolidating activities.

1. Each subject’s homework should take about 45 minutes.  Some assignments, however, may require more time and one piece of work could therefore be set over several homework periods.

 

2. Teachers are expected to set homework on the days above according to this timetable.The slight difference to this will be Science who will set as close to the listed day as possible as teaching combined or Triple Science to different classes means the above can’t be strictly followed.

 

3. All homework should be recorded via Classcharts.  Students should check Classcharts every day for homework set. This does not mean that all work set will be completed on classcharts as other online platforms may be used such as Kerboodle, Sparx, Seneca etc. Students should also be encouraged to do independent learning using the “How we revise at the Corsham School” booklet and the Knowledge Organisers which can be found on the school website.

 

4. It is expected that each student will also read for 20 to 30 minutes every evening in order to improve their literacy skills.

5. Homework should not routinely be required to be handed in on the following day, particularly during GCSE PPE, controlled assessment and revision periods. Students should plan their workloads carefully to ensure that too much homework is not left for anyone evening. 

6. Homework is not optional. It is an important part of the student’s learning and will either be used to reinforce learning or to prepare students for learning.
