Enrichment
Developing Skills Beyond the Classroom
At Corsham Sixth, all students have dedicated time on a Wednesday afternoon to participate in our enrichment programme. This important part of sixth form life provides opportunities to develop new skills, pursue personal interests and gain valuable experiences beyond academic study.
Our enrichment programme is designed to support students' personal development, wellbeing and future aspirations, helping them become confident, independent and well-rounded young adults.
A Wide Range of Opportunities
Students can choose from a variety of activities designed to complement their studies and promote both personal growth and wellbeing. Opportunities may include:
- Sporting activities such as hockey, football, rounders and table tennis
- Yoga and wellbeing activities
- Access to gym facilities at Springfield Campus
- Public Speaking Club
- The opportunity to learn British Sign Language
- Event planning opportunities with the Music Department
- Paired Reading with Year 7 students
- Mentoring and supporting younger students across the school
Students may also choose to use their enrichment time to gain regular work experience or participate in volunteering opportunities within the local Corsham community.
We are continually looking for ways to develop and enhance our enrichment programme, with our student leaders playing an important role in shaping new opportunities and activities.
Student Leadership
Without a doubt, it is our students who make Corsham Sixth such a welcoming, vibrant and successful community. Over the course of their two-year journey, we see students grow in confidence, develop greater independence and prepare for their next steps beyond Sixth Form.
A significant part of this personal growth comes through the wide range of leadership opportunities available. We encourage all students to step outside their comfort zone, embrace new challenges and make a positive contribution to the wider school community.
Leadership roles typically include:
- Senior Student Directors (Year 13)
- Charities Ambassadors
- Equality Ambassadors
- Eco Ambassadors
- Sports Ambassadors
- Wellbeing Champions
These roles provide valuable opportunities to develop leadership, communication, teamwork and organisational skills, while helping to shape the experiences of current and future students.
Super-Curricular Learning
We are proud of our Super-Curricular Programme at Corsham Sixth.
Super-curricular activities encourage students to explore their subjects beyond the classroom curriculum and develop a deeper understanding of areas that interest them. This might include wider reading, attending lectures, listening to podcasts, completing online courses, visiting museums or taking part in academic competitions.
By engaging in super-curricular learning, students develop intellectual curiosity, strengthen applications for university and apprenticeships, and build a lifelong passion for learning.
Preparing for the Future
Through enrichment, leadership, volunteering and super-curricular opportunities, students are encouraged to develop the skills, confidence and experiences needed for success beyond Sixth Form.
Our aim is that every student leaves Corsham Sixth with not only excellent qualifications, but also the personal qualities and broader experiences that will help them thrive in higher education, apprenticeships and future careers.
