Pastoral Care
At Corsham Sixth, we believe that students achieve their best when they feel happy, supported and valued. Alongside excellent academic teaching, we provide a strong pastoral support network to help students navigate the opportunities and challenges of sixth form life.
We understand that the transition to sixth form brings new experiences, greater independence and important decisions about the future. Our dedicated team is here to provide guidance, encouragement and support every step of the way.
Tutor Support
Every student is assigned a tutor who remains with them throughout their sixth form journey.
Tutors meet with students regularly and play a key role in supporting both academic progress and personal wellbeing. They help students to:
- Set and review academic targets
- Develop effective study habits and organisation skills
- Monitor attendance and punctuality
- Prepare for future pathways, including university, apprenticeships and employment
- Access additional support when needed
Tutors are also the first point of contact for parents and carers and work closely with students to help them thrive both academically and personally.
Wellbeing and Personal Development
Supporting student wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. Through our tutorial programme, CORE curriculum and wider enrichment opportunities, students develop the knowledge, confidence and resilience they need for life beyond sixth form.
Topics include:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Healthy relationships
- Financial awareness
- Personal safety
- Careers and future planning
Students also have access to a range of wellbeing initiatives and support services throughout their time at Corsham Sixth.
Additional Support
Sometimes students may need extra support during their time in sixth form. Whether this relates to wellbeing, attendance, personal circumstances, finance or future plans, help is always available.
Our pastoral team works closely with families, external agencies and school staff to ensure students receive the right support at the right time.
