Year 8
Introduction from Hywel Evans
Year Learning Manager

Year 8 focuses on cementing the personal and social development from Year 7 and enriching the students with a wider range of subjects leading up to Year 9 options and opportunities to experience life outside the classroom.
The focus is also upon creating strategies to become independent in the learning skills required to progress successfully through GCSE's and beyond.
Understanding how the students are growing themselves as individuals, yet within a society, is also a key element of Year 8.

During Year 8 students get a small experience of the day to day life of the running of the school. As pupil guides they support Reception, Pupil Reception and the Attendance Office as well as being the first face for visitors into the School.
Some students also act as guides for parents' evenings and interviews taking place in school.
When Primary Schools attend The Corsham School for their induction days, some Year 8's have the opportunity of meeting their old teachers by acting as teaching assistants to the primary school and accompanying them during their visit to us.
