The Government allocates a pupil grant to every school called The Pupil Premium. The funding is to provide an equality in education for children in families with low-income and who are eligible for Free School Meals, eligible for Free School Meals in the last six years, for children who have been constantly looked after for six months or more and for those children who have parents currently serving in the Armed Forces.

It has been for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility, but are accountable for the attainment of those pupils. New measures are included in performance tables to ascertain the achievement levels of these students.

The underlying aim here at Corsham School is to promote Teaching and Learning so that all students can achieve their full potential, regardless of background.
